Stock up for the school year at local community gathering

PARKER, Fla. ( WMBB ) – Parker Elementary School will transform into your one-stop shop for everything you’ll need to have your child ready for this school year on Saturday, July 27th from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The third annual SHIP, or Sharing Hope in Partnership, Day will feature 19 community vendors including free medical, dental, and vision screenings, school physicals, and counseling services.

Backpacks full of school supplies, hygiene products, and snack bags will be given out to every student at no cost as well.

This event is held annually to help eliminate any barriers and give every family the chance to begin the school year on a level playing field.

“Just to see one family with a smile on their face saying that you really helped me, you really helped me beyond financial insecurities, that is a blessing for us all,” said Community Partnership School Director Sharis Robinson. “This is just not work for us, this is a mission.”

This event is not just specific to Parker residents, every family in the Panhandle is welcome to stop by and take advantage of the services available during SHIP Day.

Along with the vendors and supplies, there will be water slides, bouncy houses, food, and treats for all to enjoy.

If you are interested in volunteering at SHIP Day event organizers ask you to arrive at the school around 8 a.m.
