Will Smith Confirms His New Album Is On The Way

Will Smith is preparing his first album in nearly 20 years.

In an interview he posted to Instagram on Tuesday, July 23, the Philadelphia native revealed that his new studio LP is finally finished. Smith has been working on his next body of work for the past year and a half. He also previewed a new collaboration with Russ that drops this Friday.

“Over the past year and a half, I’ve been in the studio,” Smith said. “I have a project that is the most personal and powerful music project I’ve ever done. The idea of the music is, ‘Dance in your darkest moments.'”

The album, which might be called Dance In Your Darkest Moments , will serve as the follow-up to his 2005 LP Lost And Found featuring his single "Switch" featuring Elephant plus other collaborations with Snoop Dogg , Mary J. Blige , and Robin Thicke . Smith hasn't dropped another album since, but he has hopped on several international hits with Nicky Jam , Bomba Estereo , Marc Anthony and Bad Bunny . In 2020, Smith made his comeback to Hip-Hop with Joyner Lucas on their song "Will (Remix)" and has been cooking up ever since.

Earlier this year, Smith released new music as part of the soundtrack for Bad Boys: Ride or Die . His song "Light Em Up" featuring Sean Paul appears on the OST along with other tracks by BIA , JID , Becky G , Black Eyed Peas and more. Not long after the movie debuted, Smith performed his latest single "You Can Make It" with Fridayy , the Sunday Service choir and Kirk Franklin at the BET Awards 2024 .
