Good afternoon everyone. We're back for another afternoon and evening round of heavy showers and thunderstorms across North and South Carolina. An old stationary front remains the culprit, which continues to interact with subtropical moisture for slow-moving soaking rains.

These areas need the rain badly, but too much too soon is also a problem. Flood watches continue over most of the Carolinas as heavy thundershowers dump copious amounts of rain in short time. We also have a severe weather component that isn't gettign much mention, but I've been giving it the spotlight over the past few days.

While we don't have any severe weather watches at this time, isolated severe weather can still occur. Within individual cells and clusters, the possibility remains for some hail, frequent lightning, gusty winds, and again, flooding rain. We've already seen some isolated heavier storms impacting parts of the Carolinas such as Myrtle Beach and the Raleigh-Durham area.

Texas and the Louisiana coast have thier own fair share of issues as well. Tropical mositure from the Gulf of Mexico continues to drift northward, giving the coastal plain some soaking rain and heavy rumbles. With these also, there is an isolated severe component as well, specifically over maritime interests. Look for locally gusty winds and the chance of some waterspouts.

As with yesterday and the past few days, thunderstorm action should weaken after sunset.
