After a weeks-long backlash resulting in over 70,000 negative reviews on Steam, Respawn Entertainment says it won’t move ahead with getting rid of the option to buy battle passes with Apex Coins after all.

The issue came to a head in 2024 thanks to a public security breach during a professional Apex tournament.

The loss of a tank hero on each team fundamentally changed how it’s played, and debates over whether or not it should go back to 6v6 have gone on since its release. The same general formula from EDF’s first Western release is still present in EDF 6. You’re a soldier in an intercontinental army whose goal is to protect the Earth from alien infestation. There’s no deep story or character moments, and the cheesiness is off the charts throughout. The mission structure is remarkably simple and can be enjoyed as an old-school couch co-op experience. And of course, the third-person shooter gameplay is pure arcady action with an emphasis on large enemy swarms overwhelming the screen. Like its predecessors, EDF 6 is a throwback to a simpler time in gaming.
