Sting will return to the road this fall for a new North American tour. Dubbed “Sting 3.0,” the trek will see the former Police frontman joined by guitarist and longtime collaborator Dominic Miller and drummer Chris Maas as he performs “the most electrifying hits from his timeless discography.”
The “Sting 3.0” tour kicks off in Detroit on September 17th and also includes multi-night stints in Toronto, Philadelphia, Brooklyn, Chicago, San Francisco, and Los Angeles. Update: Due to “phenomenal fan demand,” Sting has added additional shows in Toronto, Boston, DC, Miami, Chicago, and LA. He is also set to headline Bourbon & Beyond in Louisville and The Ohana Fest in Dana Point, CA, filling in for Neil Young, who canceled his appearances at both festivals due to health issues. Sting also has a few co-headlining shows with Billy Joel scheduled in St. Louis, San Diego, and Las Vegas.
Sting initially kicked off his “Sting 3.0″ tour in Europe over the summer. The setlist has included a mix of greatest hits and deep cuts, including rare live performances of The Police’s “Voices Inside My Head,” “Synchronicity II,” and “Driven to Tears,” as well as his own solo songs “Never Coming Home,” and “When the Angels Fall.”
In other news, The Police are set to release an expanded deluxe edition of Synchronicity on July 26th. The super deluxe CD box set includes 55 newly unearthed alternate takes, outtakes, demos, and a live recording of The Police’s concert in Oakland, California on September 10th, 1983.
