SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – Springfield Police have arrested a teenage boy in connection with a shooting that took place on Berkshire Avenue Thursday afternoon.
According to Springfield Police Spokesperson Ryan Walsh, at around 2:10 p.m., officers were called to the area of the 400 block of Berkshire Ave for a report of a gunshot victim. Upon arrival, police found an adult man suffering from a gunshot wound. He was taken to Baystate Medical Center with serious injuries.
VT drug operation tied to Berkshire Ave apartment in Springfield search, two arrested The Springfield Police Detective Bureau identified a suspect on the 0-100 block of Geneva Street, who was subsequently detained. While searching for additional suspects, detectives discovered a firearm on the 0-100 block of Steuben Street.
The detained suspect, a 16-year-old, was arrested. Due to his age, authorities have not released his name, booking photo, or the charges against him. The investigation into the shooting is ongoing.
This arrest follows a separate investigation conducted by Springfield police and Vermont law enforcement on Wednesday morning at the Berkshire Arms Apartments. Two men were arrested in connection with a drug trafficking operation. It remains unclear if there is any connection between the two incidents.
