From flour to cereal, pasta and spices, BJ’s members can stock up on these essential dried pantry items at a much lower price.
All-Purpose Flour
BJ’s sells a variety of all-purpose flours from different brands at a lower price than supermarkets, Walmart and even Costco. A 12-pound bag of all-purpose flour from Gold Medal is $8.99 at BJ’s, while the same exact product is $13 at Walmart (originally $14.50).
Next time you’re running low on salt and ground spices, you can cut your bill in half by shopping at BJ’s, according to Jim Wang, founder of personal finance website Wallet Hacks . “The Wellsley Farms Himalayan Pink Salt, 5 lb. container at only $7.49 is a great deal if you already have a salt grinder. It would cost you $14.99 on Amazon,” he said.
Most ground spices are also a steal. “The same goes for all their ground spices, as long as you are able to use the larger quantities before they lose their freshness,” Wang added.
Cereal
Not only is cereal cheaper at full price, but there are also several coupons available right now for cereal to help you save more money. For instance, a 49.5-ounce box of General Mills Cinnamon Toast Crunch cereal is $7.99, but there’s a $2.25 off coupon available through July 29. You can also apply this coupon to Cheerios ($9.99) and Cocoa Puffs cereal ($7.99).
There’s also a $1.75 off coupon for the two-pack box of Kellogg’s Special K with Berries cereal and a $1.50 off coupon for Kellogg’s Frosted Flakes and Crumbl cereal. These coupons are available through Aug. 11.
Barilla Pasta
For shoppers who prefer name-brand pasta, BJ’s sells Barilla at much lower prices than its competitors. “BJ’s sells them in six-packs for about $8 to $9. You won’t find name-brand pasta cheaper than $1.50 a box at your local grocery store,” Wang said. He also noted that his local grocery store sells them for $2.19 each, so he gets a much better deal by buying pasta at BJ’s. “Dry pasta lasts forever and is always a staple in our household,” he added.
Sugar
Bakers low on sugar will want to stock up at BJ’s. A 10-pound bag of pure cane sugar from the BJ’s brand Wellsley Farms is $7.79, which is cheaper than the same size bag of granulated sugar ($8.17) from Walmart’s Great Value brand. It’s also cheaper than Kirkland Signature’s Organic Cane sugar, Sugar In The Raw and N’Joy Pure Sugar at Costco.
Dried Fruit
This is another dried staple that is cheaper at full price at BJ’s than elsewhere. Plus, there’s a coupon available for $1 off on Wellsley Farms Dried Fruit through Aug. 11. A 30-ounce bag of dried mango is $12.99, or $11.99 with the coupon, while a 12-ounce bag of dried mango from Great Value at Walmart is $8.98. Walmart’s price is lower, but BJ’s is nearly half the price per ounce with the coupon.
