    2.3 magnitude earthquake recorded in Powhatan

    POWHATAN COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — A 2.3 magnitude earthquake was recorded in Powhatan County Thursday morning.

    According to the United States Geological Survey , the earthquake took place at 8:22 a.m. on Thursday, July 25. The epicenter was just southwest of the intersection of Anderson Highway and Old Tavern Road.

    The last time an earthquake of a similar magnitude took place in the Richmond area was April 8 in the Glen Allen area of Henrico County, when hundreds of people reported feeling minor shaking from a 2.1 magnitude earthquake.
