The next time you need a quick handmade gift for a loved one or you have a rainy afternoon to kill, you need to try this adorable DIY.
There are a lot of home accessories that we pay a lot for and we don't even realize it! Items like wall art, throw pillows, and in this case, coasters, are actually so incredibly easy to make at home. Not only will you save money, but you'll have fun doing it. What's not to love?
This creator figured out a way to make her very own set of mug coasters at home for literally $12. Watch her process below!
With nearly 1,000,000 followers on her page and over 15 million likes, TikTok creator @theflippedpiece is definitely a go-to page when we're feeling in need of some DIY inspiration. She'll try any type of project, from random thrift shop up-cycles to viral IKEA hacks and we are here for all of it.
While sometimes her projects are as big as remodeling her entire bathroom, she also tackles smaller ones that even non-crafters can try. She makes the activity accessible for all.
There are a lot of items in your home that you could more than likely make yourself instead of buy brand new. Which one is she teaching us to make today? Mug coasters!
This is such an easy DIY and it will cost you less than $20. So why not give it a try? Here's how she did it.
5 Steps to DIYing Your Own Tile Coasters
This is so affordable.
1. Stop by your local Home Depot or other home improvement store and pick up a piece of mosaic tile. This creator grabbed one piece of Home Depot's Travertine Medley Mosaic Tile, which was only $12.99.
2. Pop the small tiles pieces out of the mesh backing and recycle the mesh.
3. Arrange the tiles in combos of four that you like best. These will be your coasters!
4. Use super strong glue to adhere the four pieces together by the sides. Paint an extra layer of glue onto the cracks.
5. Last but not least, grab a pack of self-adhesive felt pads and place one on each corner of the coaster. This way the tile won't scratch your table.
Done! So easy.
