    Andrews County SO warns public of VA phone scam

    ANDREWS COUNTY, Texas (KMID/KPEJ) – The Andrews County Sheriff’s Office is warning residents of a scam caller who is claiming to be a Veterans Affairs Representative in order to obtain banking information.

    According to ACSO, the caller is claiming to be David Cooper and is calling veterans or surviving beneficiaries pretending to be working with them to increase their disability benefits. To assist the veterans, he requests a copy of the veteran’s discharge paperwork and banking information. The Sheriff’s Office is warning the public not to give this information to anyone over the phone.
