Have you ever driven through a wealthy neighborhood and stopped to marvel at the mansions that stretch to each street corner? These one-of-a-kind locations not only capture the eye, but also the curiosity of those passing by, questioning:

"How much do you think it costs to buy a house like that?"

"Can you imagine what it would be like to live in a place like that?"

Staring at the large brick mailboxes and perfectly manicured lawns that add to the appeal of these giant structures, it's hard not to wonder! While there are many neighborhoods scattered across the state that are home to large estates, only one houses the wealthiest homeowners in Michigan.

According to an updated list compiled by Family Handyman , the most expensive place to live in all of Michigan is Birmingham , specifically the 48009 zip code. The median home value for this zip code is a whopping $502,900.

Here' what Family Handyman had to say about the most expensive neighborhood in the entire state:

"Named one of the country’s “Top 20 Most Walkable Communities,” the city of Birmingham offers recreational, cultural and urban advantages all while giving off that small-town vibe. The median home value is $502,900."

Honestly it's not that bad. In California it costs an average of 1 million for a 1 bedroom 600 sq ft home. Our house was 3 bedrooms 1 bath 1200 sq ft and was 4.1 million. Our new house is a fraction of the price and spacious. Perspective is important. Myself and 3 of my siblings moved here so we can raise our children together instead of being spread out in Huntington Beach, Folly Beach, and Kiawah Island respectively. We have had a positive experience so far and enjoy our family holidays and summer house in the Upper Peninsula. Honestly family is everything so we have no regrets.
