Ultimate Spider-Man #7 Preview Reveals Super-Suit Secrets

Both Spider-Man and Green Goblin have independently developed some advanced technology in their time. Things are different in the new Ultimate Universe , where both Peter Parker and Harry Osborn take advantage of repurposed StarkTech. However, the preview for Ultimate Spider-Man #7 reveals some significant differences between their respective super-suits.

Written by Jonathan Hickman , with art by Marco Checchetto , Ultimate Spider-Man #7 opens with a meeting of the minds. Otto Octavius, who is an Oscorp employee in this reality instead of Doctor Octopus , explains the differences between the two vigilantes’ uniforms. While both were manufactured by Howard Stark’s company, Peter Parker’s costume is far more advanced.

The discussion of the two heroes’ super-suits highlights a significant difference in Peter and Harry. In the new Ultimate Universe, Harry Osborn is more of a Tony Stark figure. He has a fortune and good intentions, but his heroism is just as motivated by revenge on Wilson Fisk as it is an honest desire to help others. It is also implied that he became a superhero in spite of Tony Stark’s efforts to restore the world to what it should be. His costume reflects this, being reversed engineered by technology left behind by the Ultimate Iron Man .

By contrast, Peter Parker mostly became a hero because of his defining sense of responsibility. He was told who he was meant to be and chose to embrace that destiny. Granting that he had some unmet need in his life and a sense that he wasn’t who he was supposed to be, wealth and fame were not a concern. Nor was revenge. His costume was given to him and is suggested to be the creation of the Ultimate Universe Tony Stark and Doctor Doom . Regardless of their technology and their motivations, both men are among the foremost heroes of the new Ultimate Universe.
