The relationship between grandparents and their grandchildren is uniquely special, whether they have two legs or four. Frequently, these senior family members can convince kids to do things they might refuse otherwise. Somehow, they sense safety and security and find the confidence to take a chance.
This beautiful Golden Retriever may have been unsure about riding on this machine, but those fears soon turned into fun with Grandpa. Check out this darling duo hitting the waves in this video shared on July 15:
It looks like Walter was having the very best day ever! Although he may have appeared slightly apprehensive at the beginning, it didn’t take him long to appreciate the feeling of the wind and his fur while sailing over the tiny waves. If it feels good to us, it must feel good to them, especially with their heavy coats. After he adjusted to this new sensation, Grandpa picked up the speed, and they flew along like total pros. He’s a natural out on the water! Undoubtedly, he’ll be asking to go for a ride now on a regular basis. His mom, Janelle (@ thedailynelly ), explains that his grandpa had just lost his dog of 18 years, and jet skiing with his four-legged pal was something they had always done together. Now, he can continue this cherished tradition with his grand pup. How sweet is that?

Introducing Your Dog to a Jet Ski
Although confident and outgoing dogs like Golden Retrievers might hop on board without you asking, it’s sometimes best to introduce them to these new experiences on dry land before taking them out on the water. Once they climb on board, rewarding them with lots of treats and praise can help make it a positive experience. However, if they show signs of apprehension, it’s best to cut the session short and try again another time. Although I once had a Rottweiler who loved to quad and snowmobile, not all dogs are cut out for motorsports.
This bonding experience touched people. Viewer @hudson_heart_of_golden responded, “This is so cool! A blessing for both!” That it is. Another person remarked, “The dog is enjoying the jet ski ride much the way a child would. Kudos to this guy for enriching this dog’s life.” Spending time with our grandparents is always so special. With summer almost halfway over, this beautiful Golden Retriever reminds us to have fun with those we love. Experiences like these are always so fondly remembered.
