German Shepherd Puppy's First Trip to the Beach Is As Sweet As It Gets

The first few months with a puppy can definitely be stressful (personally, I cried about a million times during the potty training phase), but there are so many wonderful moments that happen during this time that makes the hard parts so worth it. One of my favorite parts about raising a puppy is experiencing all of their firsts and being able to see their reactions to everything — even something as simple as seeing their first butterfly in a park is enough to bring them (and their humans) pure joy.

There are also so many places you get to take your new puppy for the very first time, especially if you're willing to travel or live near the beach. One pair of dog parents captured the moment their puppy went to the beach for the very first time, and it is everything.

In this sweet footage shared by @zeusandlunagsd on TikTok on Wednesday, July 24, we can see what happens when a German Shepherd puppy named Dakota finally gets to see the beach.

The video starts with the drive over. Though her humans believed that she might be a little scared by the new adventure, she wasn't at all — in fact, it looks like she took to the water immediately and was loving it!

"She loved all the people and kids playing," her parents wrote. "She did bark a few times at other dogs but took correction really well."

While she was there, a child even shared some chicken nuggets with her, so basically, she had her best day ever.

In the comments, her mom explained that this was a "quick test run" to see how she handled being out in public, but since she was "phenomenal," it looks like this is just her first beach trip of many to come!

Dakota may not know this yet, but she actually joined a family of rather famous German Shepherds — Zeus and Luna have more than 560,000 followers on TikTok, which is very impressive!

Her new family took her in as a foster dog earlier this month, and sweet Dakota had a tough start to her life. At her first home, she spent her life being chained up outside, eating canned soup instead of proper dog food, and couldn't even answer to her own name... but spending time with a family who actually cared for her and gave her the attention she deserved changed all that pretty quickly.

After spending time with her, they loved Dakota so much that they decided to adopt her , promising that she would always "be spoiled with treats and love for the rest of her life."

Now that is a happy ending. Sweet Dakota — she deserves it all!
