This weekend, D-backs legends Luis Gonzalez and Randy Johnson will become the first inductees into the Arizona Diamondbacks Hall of Fame.

The Valley sports icons sat down with ABC15's Katie Raml to talk about what this honor means to them.

Randy Johnson says he hopes his legacy in baseball and here in the valley will include his accomplishments on and off the mound.

"I hear people, what they remember me, you know, and it can be like - I'm a fierce competitor. You were really stern and ornery the day you pitched. Or it could be none of those and it could be the bird I hit in 2001 down in Tucson. So, you know, and a lot of times when I run into people, 'You're the person that hit the bird' and they'll want to talk about that and there was 22 other years of what I've done during that time. And that's okay, that's what they remember. So, you know, my legacy is 22 years, six, seven different teams and hopefully leaving an impact on every team that I pitched and helping them in some small way," Johnson explained.

"To have this honor with Randy, being the first two guys to go into the Diamondbacks Hall of Fame, it's pretty special to have our numbers retired and then to be able to have my family here and all the all the fans that are gonna be here," said Gonzalez.

This special ceremony will take place before the game against the Pittsburgh Pirates on Saturday, July 29.
