    Acorn Fire in Lake County prompts evacuation warnings

    ( KRON ) — A wildfire burning in Lake County Thursday afternoon has burned 151 acres and prompted evacuation warnings. According to Cal Fire, the blaze, which is being called the Acorn Fire, is burning at a moderate rate of spread.

    Fire crews are battling the blaze and 19 engines, six water tenders, six dozers, six hand crews, two helicopters and four fixed-wing aircraft have been dispatched to fight the fire. As of shortly before 2 p.m., Cal Fire said firefighters were seeking additional air support.

    Evacuation warnings have been issued by the Lake County Sheriff’s Office for the following zones in Upper Lake: UPP-E029, UPP-E034

    “We are asking everyone to take precautions in the event that a mandatory evacuation order is issued,” said the sheriff’s office. “Preparations should include gathering all medications and important documents, making plans for pets, and notifying family members where you may be going.”

    Additional air and ground forces are currently en route to the fire, according to Cal Fire. Crews are making good progress against the fire, which is burning light flashy fuels and oak woodland, according to Cal Fire.
