Tonight : Mostly cloudy with a few showers. Patchy fog is possible. Lows will be in the upper 60s to lower 70s.

Tomorrow : On Friday, we will see a few peaks of sunshine with a mostly cloudy sky. There will still be some pop-up afternoon/evening showers and storms, but the coverage will be lower than it has been the last few days across Central Alabama thanks to high pressure over the Gulf of Mexico. High temperatures will heat up into the middle to upper 80s.

Drought Update : There was improvement with the drought across Central Alabama along and south of I-20 where it is now just abnormally dry. However, severe to extreme drought conditions persist for parts of Lamar, Fayette, Walker & Marion Counties.

Weekend Outlook : The weather pattern starts to change this weekend. The trough will move northeast as the high pressure sits over the Gulf of Mexico. This will reduce the chance for rain and temperatures will heat back up to start the weekend. Saturday will be partly cloudy with some pop-up showers and storms. High temperatures will be in the upper 80s to lower 90s. The area of high pressure over the Gulf will pump in plenty of tropical moisture over Alabama, so expect Sunday to be mostly cloudy with a much better chance of showers and storms. High temperatures will be in the upper 80s to lower 90s.

Next Week Outlook : Monday will have numerous storms as an upper-level wave moves across the Southeast U.S. Some rain could be heavy. Highs will be in the upper 80s. Scattered storms are expected on Tuesday with highs around 90.

There will be a ridge of high pressure over the Southern Plains, and Alabama will be on the eastern side with northwest flow aloft over us. This will reduce the chance of storms on Wednesday through Friday giving up more sunshine. However, we must watch out for some MCSs moving in from the northwest each day. High temperatures will heat up into the lower 90s.
