Why WWE's Drew McIntyre's pic with AEWs Jack Perry is a CM Punk troll

Sometimes a wrestler's true personality seeps into his or her kayfabe and the result is a better villain performance or storyline. That might just be the case as Drew McIntyre continues to look to torment CM Punk as the two go back and forth over lost championship opportunities. Set to square off in next Saturday's SummerSlam with special guest referee Seth Rollins, McIntyre isn't allowed to put his hands on Punk, and vice versa, or else the contract will be cancelled per WWE Monday Night Raw GM Adam Pearce.

Already holding onto ownership of Punk's wrist bracelet that represents his family, McIntyre seems intent to continue to try and get under Punk's skin in any way imaginable. On Thursday and in a since-deleted Twitter post, McIntyre posted a pic of him with a wrestler from another promotion. McIntyre standing next to AEW's Jack Perry, fresh off a crazy 10-man cage match on Wednesday night's AEW Dynamite: Blood and Guts , wouldn't be much of anything if it wasn't for the backstage history Punk and Perry have that has nothing to do with any storyline.

Punk, recently medically cleared to return to the ring and having to clear up some controversy about his WWE contract recently, hasn't since responded. This troll goes back several months  to when Punk returned to AEW to resubmerge himself into the wrestling world after a lengthy, seven-year hiatus. Punk was with AEW for over two years, until he got into a backstage altercation with Jack Perry.

Punk revealed the nature of the dustup in April during his injury hiatus since hurting his triceps at the Royal Rumble in January. The altercation led to his departure from AEW.

"Jack came back from his match. I'm the next match, I'm sitting there. I got people with me ... I walk up to him and I'm like, 'Jack, why do you insist on doing this dumb internet s*** on TV?' He's like, if you have a problem, do something about it.' I was like, 'Come on man. I can f***ing kill you. What are we doing? ... I thought I was doing the responsible thing. I didn't punch anybody. I just choked somebody a little bit. Samoa Joe was there, told me to stop. I quit. I turned to Tony and said, 'This place is a f**king joke. You're a clown. I quit.' I went to my room, Joe and Jerry Lynn came and got me and we're like, 'Let's go out there and kill it.' I was too fired up. I'm fired up now. I'm probably going to regret talking about all this s***, but that's what happened."

The problem arose from Jack Perry wanting to use broken glass in a segment and after being told no by multiple front office folks and Punk, he refused to be talked down. Punk had told Perry that style gimmick was good for AEW Dynamite on Wednesday nights, but that wasn't going to fly on Saturday night's AEW brand, Collision.

Fireworks might go off early as Monday's episode of Raw will feature Rollins explaining the rules of the SummerSlam matchup.
