DuleThe day is almost here. Americans can tune in to see legendary rapper Snoop Dogg carry the Olympic torch Friday (July 26) as the 2024 Summer Olympic Games kick off in Paris, France. The Summer Games opening ceremony is typically nothing short of a global spectacle, and the City of Lights is sure to pull out all the stops. Here’s how to make sure you don’t miss the Olympics opening ceremony.

What Time Does The Olympics Opening Ceremony Start?

The live NBC broadcast will kick off with a pre-show at noon Eastern Friday, July 26. The Olympics opening ceremony itself begins at 1:30 p.m. Eastern (or 7:30 p.m. in Paris) and will likely last a staggering four hours.

However, if you can’t catch the live broadcast, don’t stress. The primetime encore telecast will air (with additional content) at 7:30 p.m. Eastern. Additionally, you can stream the ceremony on Peacock and NBC Olympic platforms — NBCOlympics.com, NBC.com, NBC app, or the NBC Olympics app.

This year’s Olympics opening ceremony breaks from tradition in a couple of meaningful ways. Instead of the typical stadium march, about 6,800 athletes will parade down the Seine River on more than 90 boats. The parade will kick off the ceremony rather than close it out, as has been done in previous years.

    Who Is Performing?

Adding to the pageantry of the 2024 Olympics opening ceremony, Celine Dion is set to make her triumphant comeback right there in Paris. Multiple news outlets have reported that the “Because You Loved Me” singer will team up with fellow GRAMMY winner Lady Gaga during the event.

The pair will reportedly perform Édith Piaf’s “La Vie en Rose,” one of the most famous tunes to ever come out of France. If true, neither artist will be performing it for the first time. Dion was just 15 when she performed the wistful track on Michael Drucker’s TV show in Paris in 1993.

Lady Gaga first performed “La Vie En Rose” in 2016 during the TV special Tony Bennett Celebrates 90: The Best Is Yet to Come. The “Poker Face” singer would sing the iconic tune again two years later as part of her Oscar-nominated turn in A Star Is Born.
