JANESVILLE — Bright skies and comfortable temperatures drew a crowd to the Rock County 4-H Fair Thursday, as day three of the annual event was headlined in the evening by the country music band LoCash.

Jamie Coyle said she attends the fair every year. She was there Thursday night with Travis Lyga, sitting in the second row of the grandstand waiting for LoCash to hit the stage.

Coyle, a self-proclaimed huge country music fan, wore a Chris Young 21st anniversary t-shirt, and said it was her first time seeing LoCash in concert.

“It’s a little pricey but it’s worth it,” Coyle said.

Asked to pick out one favorite LoCash song, she couldn’t.

“I love them all,” Coyle said.

Lyga noted the comfortable weather near showtime, with temperatures in the 70s and low humidity. The forecast will be similar Friday with a high near 80 degrees, according to the National Weather Service.

“It’s starting to cool down. I like that,” he said.

Coyle and Lyga said they were impressed with the fair food, particularly with the tent next to the grandstand.

“Seven dollars for a brat or a hot dog and chips and a soda is a pretty good deal anywhere,” Lyga said.

Bryson Townsend, at the fair Thursday night with his dad, Josh Nehls, was eyeing up the corn dogs. He also had a mega pass for the rides. He said his favorite ride was the Yoyo and he planned to play some carnival games.

The two go to the fair every year, and they go every day.

“It’s just a great environment. It’s great for Janesville and it’s great for the community,” Nehls said, adding that it’s a safe event. “You don’t see too much trouble.”

The two weren’t planning on seeing LoCash, but planned on seeing Tyler Farr on Friday night.

“I love Tyler Farr. It’s great entertainment that 4-H brings to the community,” Nehls said.

Justin, Kelly and Payton Harrison were at the fair Thursday night after not attending last year. They walked through the animal barns, played carnival games and took in some fair food, including funnel cakes and deep-fried Oreos.

“It is really good,” Payton said.

Her favorite game was the pick-a-duck game.

“I won a prize,” she said, showing a stuffed animal.

    Friday events

The fair continues through Sunday. After the dairy showmanship and colored breeds in the stock pavilion and the meat animal sale in the sales arena on Friday at 9 a.m., the clothing fashion revue is at the Craig Avenue Pavilion at 6 p.m.
