Why is Kelly Clarkson at the Olympics?

Clarkson is one of three hosts for the Olympics opening ceremony. She will be alongside Tirico and Manning in Paris for NBC.

The trio made their announcement on "The Tonight Show" with Jimmy Fallon in March 2024.

Clarkson doesn't have a sports background like Manning, but she'll provide a different perspective for the kaudience. She brings insight of what the fans are thinking because she is one herself.

She does, however, consider herself to have an Olympian skill level at building Legos.

"I am the Simone Biles of Legos," Clarkson said on The Tonight Show . "I am incredible at Legos. It's a true thing. I'm incredible. You should see my house."

Clarkson built her career as a musician, but she also has plenty of experience as a talk show host. "The Kelly Clarkson Show" debuted in September 2019.

It's a stacked trio considering Manning and Tirico's experience on TV. Manning became a popular voice in sports TV after his Hall of Fame NFL career, and Tirico will be hosting his fourth Olympics this year.

"This summer’s opening ceremony will be unlike anything we’ve ever seen, and we’re thrilled to have Kelly and Peyton join Mike to describe all the spectacular sights and sounds happening along the Seine leading to the lighting of the cauldron," said Molly Solomon , executive producer and president of NBC's Olympic productions.
