Harry Maguire has pledged his future to Manchester United , while also revealing that missing out on last season’s FA Cup final and the Euros was the toughest moment of his career.

Maguire had been on course to play in the FA Cup final, where United defeated rivals Manchester City , and also make the England squad for this summer’s Euros before he was struck by a calf injury at the start of May.

The injury forced him out of action for the rest of the season and Maguire has admitted that was difficult to deal with.

“It was a real tough moment in my career, probably the toughest moment in my career to date, really,” he told Sky Sports.

“To get myself in a position where all year I’ve worked hard to play at the end of the season, to play in these big games, these cup finals, and then go to the Euros and try and win the tournament for the country.

“I felt like I got myself in a great position physically and mentally to go perform at the highest level, and to face the setback that I did with the injury, it was a real tough moment for me.”

Maguire is into the final year of his contract at Manchester United, although it is thought to have the option to be extended for a further 12 months, and he has been linked with a move away.

But the centre-back said: “Everything I have heard and the action I have been shown from the club is that I’m part of the future and it’s time to crack on, and try and make this club successful again and challenge for the big trophies, because that’s what it demands.”
