Motorcyclist dead after hitting semi on Eastbound U.S. 35 in Greene County

A motorcyclist is dead after a crash on U.S. 35 in Greene County Friday morning.

Ohio State Highway Patrol (OSHP) troopers and medics responded at 2:34 a.m. to U.S. 35 Eastbound just west of Trebein Road in Beavercreek Township, according to an OSHP spokesperson.

A motorcycle was traveling eastbound on U.S. 35 when it hit the back of a semi. The motorcycle laid on its side and struck the barrier in the median before coming to a final rest, a preliminary investigation revealed.

The motorcyclist died at the scene while the semi driver was not hurt.

News Center 7′s Xavier Hershovitz was at live at the scene during News Center 7 Daybreak and he reported that traffic was being diverted on U.S. 35 at Orchard Lane.

Eastbound U.S. 35 was closed for several hours before before reopening just after 7 a.m.

The crash remains under investigation.

As reported Friday on News Center 7′s Daybreak, Ohio State Highway Patrol (OSHP) troopers and medics responded just after 2:30 a.m. to US-35 eastbound past Orchard Lane on initial reports of a crash involving a motorcycle and semi according to OSHP dispatchers.

Video and photos from the scene show that state troopers have closed U.S. 35 eastbound at Orchard Lane.

News Center 7′s Xavier Hershovitz says the crash is at least a half mile down the road and traffic is being diverted.

The motorcyclist is confirmed dead, dispatchers tell News Center 7.

WHIO Traffic reporter Jake Magnotta says drivers can exit off N Fairfield Road and turn right on Dayton Xenia Road. Next, travel on Dayton Xenia to Trebein Road and get back to U.S. 35 from Trebein Road.
