COLLETON COUNTY, S.C. (WCBD) – Colleton County crews helped rescue a woman trapped in her car after losing control on I-95.

Colleton County Fire Rescue responded to the scene Thursday morning.

Crews say the woman was traveling southbound in a Honda Accord and swerved to avoid a tire in the road. She lost control, struck a guard rail, and entered the wooden median.

The woman was trapped in the car due to the damage, authorities report.

Firefighter-paramedics used a chainsaw to cut away debris and gain access to the driver’s side of the car. They then used rescue tools to remove the driver’s door.

Crews were able to recover the driver and she suffered non-life-threatening injuries, officials say.
