Ireland's National Wax Museum, located in Dublin , has pulled its Sinead O'Connor waxwork after it was unveiled to the public this week. The waxwork drew a huge number of criticisms for its accuracy and its placement in the museum.

The controversial waxwork was revealed to honor Sinead O'Connor's first anniversary. However, the museum owner Paddy Dunning has since told The Irish Sun that he has decided to remove the waxwork following backlash .

"Unfortunately this likeness of Sinead was delivered to the Wax Museum yesterday morning and I didn't have time to review it," he told the publication. "Sinead O'Connor was a personal friend of mine."

"I knew it wasn't right but I still had to go ahead with the launch because so many press and media were coming," he added. Dunning revealed that he called a staff meeting this morning and spoke to artist PJ Heraghty who was responsible for creating the Sinead O'Connor waxwork.

"PJ has made some fantastic models for us. I know he could do better." Dunning doesn't plan to melt down the waxwork and explained that people might still want to see it.

Many people on social media hit out at the waxwork, claiming it doesn't look like Sinead O'Connor. One X user said: "The new Sinead O'Connor waxwork looks like they just found an old mannequin in a skip and said, yep that will do."

Another posted: "Oh good grief! That is shockingly bad." A third said: "The idea of a Sinéad O'Connor waxwork/tribute, icon that she is, is wonderful. The execution of that idea... I'll leave that up to others to properly articulate."

Others criticized the waxwork's placement beside characters from the Star Wars movies. One person joked: "Beautiful tribute to Sinead O’Connor at the Dublin Wax Museum as a wax sculpture of her was unveiled alongside long-term backing band members Qui & Darth."
