Ben Carson Tells Tucker Carlson Media Trying to Make Kamala Harris ‘Martin Luther King in a Different Body,’ Questions Black Voter Support

Ben Carson told Tucker Carlson the media is trying to turn Vice President Kamala Harris into “Martin Luther King in a different body,” and he questioned whether Black voters will go along with it.

Carson, the former head of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), touted Donald Trump’s gains with Black voters. CNN aggregate polling in May showed Trump pulling in about 22% support among Black voters, a gain from 2020, but President Joe Biden at that point still held more than a 40 point lead at the time.

“I know the media is going to do everything to make her seem like Martin Luther King in a different body. But I think people maybe are not going to be as easy to manipulate as that,” Carson said about Harris.

Carson questioned how “great” Harris’s support among Black voters, despite her being the presumptive nominee of a party that still holds a significant lead with Black voters.

“Trump will continue to attract a lot of people in the black community because his policies recognize that a rising tide lifts all boats. And, you know, I don’t think black people are particularly interested in having an advantage over everybody else. They just want a level playing field, something that works for everybody,” he said.

• According to a poll from CNN/SSRS, in a matchup between Trump and Harris, the former pulls 15% support among Black voters and the latter pulls 78%.

Carson, who referred to Harris as a “Marxist,” said the vice president could “absolutely” win in November and he blamed the media for trying to turn her into a “godlike figure.”

“Absolutely she can win. This is going to be a great test of the power of the media to take someone who formerly was universally disliked and transform them into a godlike figure, and they will use everything that they have to try to do that,” Carson said. “The question is, are the American people smart enough to see through it? And I actually think the American people are smarter than anybody gives them credit for.”
