In 2015, LeBron James , Carmelo Anthony, Dwyane Wade, and Chris Paul were on a vacation together in the Bahamas. During that trip, Anthony almost drowned while exploring the ocean. Fortunately, King James saved him.

"I just knew that he was not back in the boat with the rest of us, so I went out looking for him," James said . "And through the grace of God and strength and not being afraid of the water, I was able to help him back to the boat. It was the only thing that was on my mind at that point and time, was getting my brother back to the boat."

The current swept Melo away from the boat

The group jumped off their boat and swam to a little grotto. While everyone returned to the boat safely, Melo stayed behind and wanted to see the "last bit of barracudas snorkeling." That's when things started to go wrong.

Anthony said the weather started to turn windy, and the current was sweeping him to the middle of the ocean and opposite the boat. When the group could no longer see Melo from the boat, LeBron jumped off and searched for Anthony.

"I don't know, it's a blessing, honestly," James said when asked how much danger Anthony was really in before the rescue. "I don't really know what to say, to be honest. I'm just happy he's still here, obviously."

Not the only time Melo was "missing" from the boat

Curiously, that drowning story isn't the most popular one about that famous Bahamas trip. What everybody loves to talk about is that iconic photo of the group riding a banana boat, even though Melo is not in it .

"In the picture, everybody's thinking that I'm on the boat. I'm not on the boat. Ok, it's Bron, CP, D-Wade, and Gab. Because of the notion of The Banana Boat Crew, that sh** hit so hard, I can't even escape…" Anthony said on Paul George's Podcast P .

Basketball fans will always remember that 2015 Bahamas trip because of the Banana Boat Crew photo. However, for the group, especially LeBron and Carmelo, that trip will never be forgotten because of a real-life incident where James once again proved his greatness.
