Although the 2024 Paris Olympic games don’t kick off till Friday afternoon, countries all over the world are getting into the spirit of competition, hoping to watch history. And given the history surrounding the Olympic Games, there seemed no better place to celebrate competition than in the historic city of Paris. Having been part of the Olympic games over the years, it appears that rapper Snoop Dogg received a great honor recently when he got the chance to carry the Olympic torch.

Sharing a video on Twitter, Snoop Dogg causally walked through a sea of fans as he carried the Olympic torch. Much like the fans around him, the rapper loved the moment and took time to soak it all in. Given his success and the history behind the torch, even Flavor Flav claimed the moment will be remembered for a long time. Also traveling to Paris as the official sponsor for the USA women’s water polo team, Flavor Flav insisted Snoop Dogg carrying the torch was “a very, very big moment for rap music history.”

Snoop Dogg Offers His Dream Rap Team

Outside of carrying the Olympic torch, Snoop Dogg discussed the games and who he would bring if rapping was a sport. “I definitely would take Eminem. Got to have that global experience. Then I definitely would take Rakim from the old school. Then I would go grab a female. I would grab Queen Latifah because that’s where I’ve got some loyalty. And naturally I’ve got to take Snoop Dogg…Let’s go!”

While the Olympics aren’t looking to add the style of music into the games, Snoop Dogg promised it would fit right in. “I believe that hip-hop has always been a part of the Olympics. It’s just now being recognized because it’s global. Breakdancing is in the Olympics this year, and it’s on a global scale because breakdancing is one of the first elements of hip-hop.”

Not able to compete in the games for rapping, Snoop Dogg will remain in Paris as his colorful commentary has been a hilarious addition to the Olympics. Don’t miss the opening ceremonies, airing at 1:30 ET/PT on NBC.
