Mohamed Salah poses with opposition kit after Kostas Tsimikas made Liverpool transfer declaration

Liverpool is yet to make any transfer additions, but it will take some comfort in the fact that Saudi Arabia has not yet come knocking for Mohamed Salah . It was a shock to the system, then, to see him holding up the jersey of another team — but there's no need to fear.

Unlike other senior stars, Salah has had more or less a full pre-season under new coach Arne Slot , and is expected to feature prominently over the course of the US tour. That kicks off tonight with a game against La Liga outfit Real Betis.

That could see Salah come up against erstwhile teammate Adrian , who made the switch to his old club on a free transfer over the summer. He's been spotted back in the Liverpool camp ahead of the fixture, where he presented a shirt to Kostas Tsimikas .

Tsimikas caused something of a stir by then declaring "I'm leaving!" as he held up the Betis jersey with his name and number. And he was not the only one to receive a gift.

With the scenes being captured by the Real Betis media team , perhaps it was no surprise that they went for the money shot with Salah. There's also a potential insight into the friendship groups behind the scenes at Anfield — we know that Salah and Tsimikas are "bezzies" , and perhaps Adrian, who was well-liked in the dressing room, moved in similar circles.

Whatever the reason, only Salah and Tsimikas were photographed receiving jerseys. The Egyptian's shirt was also personalized with his details.

Salah elected not to also declare he was leaving, which probably would have caused rather more of a stir than Tsimikas' tongue-in-cheek claim. But he posed with the jersey next to Adrian, as both of them wore wide smiles.

As it stands, Salah is expected to stay at Liverpool this summer . The Reds will also open talks over a new contract, although it remains to be seen whether an agreement can be found as he enters the final year of his existing deal.

Liverpool.com says: Hopefully Adrian plays tonight. It's always nice to see former Reds, even if reunions normally take a little longer to come about!

No doubt Salah would enjoy trying to get one over on his old colleague. Meanwhile, with Alisson not back from international duty and with Adrian having moved on, there's a chance for some of Liverpool's younger goalkeepers to impress.
