Mark Kotsay closed the door on Mason Miller’s representation.

The A’s manager called out Miller’s agent — he is repped by Ballengee Group — for providing what he deemed to be an inaccurate portrayal of how their star closer broke his left pinky .

An MLB.com story originally included Mason’s agent claiming the top trade chip suffered the injury due to “awkwardly” putting his hand on the training table while working out, per ESPN.

“Mason’s agent might have thought differently and made a statement of his own. How we do things in this organization is to tell the truth,” Kotsay said Thursday, via ESPN. “Mason came in the training room and was going through his recovery. He was reminded that he had a postgame lift to get in. Out of a little frustration, he just kind of pounded his fist down on a padded training table out of emotion.

“We’ve all been there, done that. Unfortunately, it resulted in a fracture in his non-pitching hand in his left hand where his pinky area is.”

The updated version of MLB.com’s story does not include a comment from an agent but rather says there was “ initial confusion ” about the injury’s origin.

Kotsay’s quote made for an eye-opening situation since it’s not often a manager will publicly call out an agent, whose job it is to always present their client in the best light.

Adding in the line about telling the truth made it all the more harsher.

The whole situation is certainly frustrating for all parties since the A’s are now without a top trade chip with the July 30 deadline looming , even if they didn’t anticipate moving him.

The Diamondbacks’ trade for lefty AJ Puk from the Marlins landed them two top-30 prospects from MLB.com’s rankings, and Miller is on a different tier than Puk.

Miller, with his triple-digits fastball, is enjoying a breakout season, having struck out 70 batters in just 40 2/3 innings. He’s posted a 2.21 ERA while notching 15 saves.

Any acquiring team would have Miller under team control for the next five seasons, making him all the more valuable and costlier to obtain.

His left hand is in a cast and he can still throw despite the injury, per ESPN.

“I don’t [think Miller will be traded],” Kotsay said before the All-Star Game . “For us, where we’re trying to go, what we’re trying to do, to build something from within, he is a big part of that development. I can’t say 100 percent because I don’t make those decisions. But when I look at him, I see part of our nucleus.”
