The Ridgeview Foundation revamped its popular Golf & Taste Celebration this year, turning the popular fundraising event to two days and raising more than $1 million to benefit local health care.

With the new, two-day event, nearly 1,000 community members gathered at Sovereign Estate on Sunday, June 23 for food and beverage samplings from area restaurants, breweries, wineries and distilleries. Attendees danced to the tunes of an ABBA/Elton John Tribute Band, which was part of the Sovereign Vintage Concert Series. Fundraising continued throughout the event with crowd-favorite contests, like the “Grip It & Rip It” Board, axe throwing, mug pull and life-size game of operation.

On Monday, June 24, nearly 325 golfers, employees, volunteers, community members and guests took part in an array of activities including a Coffee Cup Shotgun golf tournament in the morning and the Founder’s Cup golf tournament in the afternoon. Golfers were entertained by a variety of contests on the course, including hole-in-one, longest putt, closest to the pin and timed hole contest.

Proceeds from the event will benefit phase three of the Cause for the Community campaign, a multi-year, multi-million-dollar initiative to enhance nearly every area within the Ridgeview system. The fundraising goals of phase three of this campaign include enhancing safety and expanding access for all patients, including 300,000 patients in Ridgeview’s seven-county service area. “This annual event continues to be a favorite among our community, and since the golf tournament began, we’ve raised close to $16 million for critical programs and services,” said Kelly Mulleady, Executive Director, Ridgeview Foundation. “Philanthropy is critical to Ridgeview’s success, and we are humbled by the generosity of our community and their shared goal of helping us keep the highest quality of health care close to home.”

The Minneapolis/St. Paul Business Journal has named the Ridgeview Golf & Taste Celebration one of the most successful golf charity events in the Twin Cities.
