    Plan Aims to Improve Parks

    2024-07-26

DOYLESTOWN, Pa. -- Bucks County’s 9,000 acres of park land – in settings like Core Creek, Playwicki, Silver Lake and Peace Valley -- provide residents and visitors an array of fun times like hiking, biking, running, fishing, boating, golfing, picnicking and more.

But could a day in the park be better with more to see and enjoy?

Bucks County Parks and Recreation Department wants to know -- and now is asking for suggestions and recommendations from park users as part of a Comprehensive Recreation, Parks and Open Space Plan (CRPOS) now underway. Residents and visitors can participate online.

“Bucks County Parks and Recreation is looking for input from people who live in Bucks County and visitors of the park system to understand how people use the park system,” according to the Parks and Recreation Department.

CRPOS aims to make it easier for people to access the parks, recreational facilities, historic sites and nature centers, and also focus on ensuring all parks meet the standards residents and users need and expect. The plan also is to provide recommendations to improve the county’s park system.

“We want to understand how people use the park system, what works well and what could be improved,” according to the Parks and Recreation Department. “It will provide forward-thinking and actionable recommendations to improve the county park system.”

In the first phase of “Listening and Learning,” the county is looking for input from Bucks County residents and from visitors to learn how they use the parks, what works well and what areas need improvement. People can use their phone, tablet or computer to visit www.metroquestsurvey.com/5fa1 to complete the survey. Regular updates can be found at www.buckscounty.gov/ParkPlan.

The metroquestsurvey link takes viewers to the CRPOS Plan Survey.

“Tale the short survey and leave comments about the different parks,” the Department said. “This is the first step in the public engagement process. The county also will provide regular updates on its website about what’s going on with the project, the schedule and opportunities for the public to get involved.”

Phase 1 is to conclude by December, with Phase 2 (Testing) by April 2025, Phase 3 (Refining & Prioritizing) April to August 2025, and Phase 4 (Launching into Action) August to November 2025.
