From coast to coast, Fall brings colors to enjoy and we fly to some of the best places to view them.

    Clearfield County, PA

Clearfield County is located in the center of Pennsylvania and carries the slogan “Halfway to Everywhere”. This proves extremely beneficial during the Fall and the hills of the area are illuminated with the colors of Autumn.

    Foliage Drives

Discover the colors of fall through back road drives or more well-known routes with Visit Clearfield’s Driving Routes . This list of various routes to take will not only provide you with spectacular views but also plenty of opportunities to discover the local culture through small towns, Amish shops at Bilger’s Rocks and plenty of spots to shop at.

    Some route picks include:

DuBois Harley Davidson to Bilger’s Rocks If you like scenic views this 1.5 hour/ 31 mile driving tour is perfect for you. A detour off Route 410 will take you to some great Amish shops!

Elk Center from Clearfield Hotels This route is 30 miles and about 2 hours of driving time on roads that are narrow windy and vary between gravel/dirt and paved. Leave additional time to enjoy the extravagant scenery, have a bugle burger and experience the Elk Viewing Center.

    Mississippi Valley Wine Trail

The seven wineries of the Mississippi Valley Wine Trail border the westernmost region of the fertile lands of Illinois along the Mississippi River. All are proudly family-owned and operated. And the Fall gives you the opportunity to make two great pairings: wine and Fall Foliage.

BAXTER’S VINEYARDS & WINERY – Illinois’ oldest winery, Baxter’s has been family owned & operated since 1857.

PRESS HOUSE WINERY & KOECHLE VINEYARDS Situated on the wide bend of the Mississippi, Koechle Vineyards has been in operation since the early 1900s. This fourth & fifth generational family farm inherits passion for the land and its grapes from a long line of dedicated vintners, honoring their traditions.

LAKE HILL WINERY & VINEYARD Established in 2010, Lake Hill encompasses 63 acres just west of Carthage Lake. The interior holds a tasting room bar, full liquor & beer bar, two substantial banquet halls, and a classic wine-lovers gift shop. Wine-making tours are available by appointment.

SPIRIT KNOB WINERY & VINEYAR D – Nestled on the bluffs with the vineyard nearby, the sweeping backdrop is an evolving panorama of the Mississippi River Valley. Estate wines from French-American hybrids are produced onsite. With 170+ medals, Spirit Knob is one of the most award-winning wineries in the state.

THE VILLAGE VINEYARD & WINERY Enjoy a relaxed afternoon off the beaten path, on the edge of the village of Camp Point. Sixteen wine varieties are offered in the tasting room, as well as a full dinner restaurant.

57&VINE POINTE D’VINE VINEYARD Ideally located on the Mississippi bluffs between Quincy and Hannibal, the grounds offer majestic views and exquisite sunsets.

HOPEWELL WINERY Sitting atop the rolling hills of scenic Pike County, Hopewell offers a variety of dry and sweet wines.

    Go West

    Show Low, AZ

Fall in Show Low, AZ starts just like other places in the U.S. in October and the White Mountains will supply you with vibrant colors. Camping sites, an abundance of wildlife, and some great late-season fishing spots make this a must-do for the entire outdoor family.

    Chadron, NE

If you decide to try a different look at fall, sunsets in the fall at Chadron State Park offer all the colors from beautiful canyons and buttes. Again camping and trail rides are popular, but, despite all the “evergreens” , there is quite a bit of changing foliage to enjoy.

    Denver, CO

Denver’s Fall season goes longer than most and generally starts mid-September and runs until late November. It’s the Aspens that bring the colors to the Denver area. Color changes are dependent upon the elevation.

    Imperial, CA

Maybe you just want the heat to hang on as long as possible and could care less about changing leaves. Might we humbly suggest hitting the amazing sand dunes of Imperial, California? Never heard of it? Click here .
