An adorable and silly Shih-Tzu recently welcomed a newborn human sister, but she's not ready to give up her "baby" status, and it's priceless.

On July 24, 2024, TikTok user Samantha Fox Jaramillo (@samanthafoxjaramillo) shared a video of her cute Shih-Tzu dog and her newborn daughter, and it's really cute. Take a look!

In a minute-long video, we meet Willow , a Shih-Tzu who seems to have mixed feelings about being a big sister now.

"The day has come. My parents have brought home the 'skin baby,'" the voiceover said, referencing their first viral video where Willow was laying on her mom's pregnant belly and felt the "skin baby" move, looking shocked.

So, the sweet dog probably figured out that a new person would be entering her world. And that time has come now.

"I got a new role around here: middle child," the voiceover continues.

Then we see Willow's dad, and new human dad, sit down on the couch with their new baby to help Willow get a closer look at the new little baby.

Dad does a really good job at making sure she's getting lots of love and cuddles too because the hope is Willow and "skin baby" will eventually become besties. But Willow is already struggling with not being the baby anymore.

"I then stood above the "skin baby," to let the skin baby know that I am superior," the voiceover joked as Willow looked at the baby in her bassinet.

The video then flips to Willow getting "more belly rubs from dad." Overall, the sweet dog is doing well with all the new sounds and smells. She looks pretty over everything at the end of the video, but you can get a feel for what might come, and we're guessing these two will become the best of friends sooner rather than later.

How to Help Your Dog Get Comfortable Around Your New Baby

The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals ( ASPCA ) says the best thing you can do to help your dog get comfortable around your new baby is to start really before the baby is here to help your dog get used to all the new sounds.

"Your dog will benefit from any training you can accomplish before your baby’s birth," the experts say, adding that you need to ensure your dog knows "basic obedience skills." Consideration should be made as to whether your dog may benefit from an obedience class.

Then, four months before your baby comes, start introducing all the new smells and sounds they might encounter when the baby is here. The idea is that doing it this way, slowly and gradually, will make the transition from no baby to one baby easier for the dog because it all won't be completely brand new.

"One to two months before the baby arrives: Anticipate the changes you’ll make to your dog’s daily routine, and start making those changes," the ASPCA notes.

From there, it will be a slow transition with intentional introductions, careful watching, and lots of alone time and cuddles for both.
