German Shepherd 'Laying Down the Law' with His Dog Siblings Is the Best Little Sheriff

When you have more than one dog, it's always really interesting to see what kind of dynamic develops between them. Sometimes, it's easy to discover that they view each other as equals. Other times, one dog will take up more of a caregiving role, especially if there's a big age difference or another pup is adopted into a family of adult dogs. And since dogs do have that innate pack instinct, they typically do end up behaving as a pack... and many times, that means that one of the dogs will end up becoming the de facto pack leader.

It's very easy to see who the pack leader in this family is after watching this TikTok video. One of these dogs is very happy being the boss of the other dogs, and from what I've seen here, he's the right canine for the job.

On Wednesday, July 24, @bear_jessica02 shared this video of the way her German Shepherd takes command of the other dogs in their household.

Everybody's standing by the back door, watching some construction going on right outside of the window (and probably barking, if I had to guess). But once their leader decides enough is enough, they don't hesitate to follow orders.

"My favorite animal is my German Shepherd letting our other dogs know when to back down," the dogs' mom wrote.

It's amazing how there's not even a little bit of resistance — the boss said it's time to move on, so that's exactly what they're doing.

Others who have dogs in this breed of their own agreed that this is a pretty common personality trait for them. One fellow dog parent wrote, "My GSD is the fun police and barks at the cats when they get playing."

    Sounds about right to me!

    German Shepherds Take the Lead

German Shepherds were once herding dogs, so while they aren't commonly serving that purpose anymore, some instincts have stuck with them, and many of them are natural born leaders like the one in this video!

These are intelligent dogs who have the drive to work, so that's why they can become a bit bossy among other dogs.

“They have the endurance and brain to work for hours and love it, one of the many reasons we see them in many working roles such as police K9s," dog trainer Nicole Ellis told Forbes .

This German Shepherd in the video has really put himself to work — and fortunately, he's in a family with dogs who appreciate his initiative.

And he's right. Leave that construction crew alone and let them do their work in peace!
