WH AT WE ARE TRACKING: Update: Right now the storms to the north, near Ladysmith and Eau Claire (and potentially to central Wisconsin later today) have produced up to 0.75" - 1.50" of rainfall so far. Estimates show 1.00" - 2.00" of rain are possible this afternoon. Here in La Crosse, we have a 30% chance for isolated thunderstorms into the 4pm to 6pm late afternoon and evening hours.

NEXT 24 HRS: Today we have a marginal risk for damaging wind, the only threat to our region are storms over Ladysmith and portions of Eau Claire, for now. Tuesday, there was a slight risk for severe weather across central Wisconsin. Now, just a marginal risk (low risk) as the slight risk is barely covering southwestern Wisconsin for tomorrow. As of now, the 2% chance for a couple of tornadoes is now over a sliver of SW Wisconsin (out of the area), a 5% chance for damaging wind and large hail remains. The cause, building high pressure and rising and sinking pressure height falls. Just think of rising and sinking air, with storms being produced due to lift and compression of the atmosphere. Wednesday, the 5% chance for damaging wind remains.

LOOKING AHEAD: Wednesday, looks to be the most humid and warmest day of the week. Wednesday's highs 87-92°, the heat index (feels like temps) of 86-100° degrees is how it will feel on your skin. Again, building high pressure, sinking air -- warming the air below, and the addition of humidity from the Gulf of Mexico. Basic midwestern summer weather pattern, that also generates storm activity. Humidity will linger through the remainder of the work week and weekend. Thursday's highs 83-88°, Friday's highs 85-89°, Saturday's highs 85-90°, Sunday's highs 82-88°. Humidity backs off on Monday.
