Snoop Dogg made history at the Olympic games by carrying the torch ahead of the opening ceremony in Paris.

On Friday, July 26, the California native was one of several celebrity torchbearers who brought the torch through its final journey through the Saint-Denis suburb of Paris. He even c-walked with the torch before he passed it off.

“This says a lot about America as far as where we’re at in this world,” Snoop Dogg said in an interview before he touched the torch. “At the same time, it says a lot about France as far as connecting the dots and allowing me to do this."

"I look at this as a prestigious honor and something I truly respect," he continued. "I would have never dreamed of nothing like this. I’m going to be on my best behavior. I’m going to be on my best athleticism. I’ll be able to breathe slow to walk fast and hold the torch with a smile on my face, because I realize how prestigious this event is.”

The Death Row Records owner was selected to be a torchbearer amid his historic role during the Paris games. Snoop was hired by NBC Sports to serve as an official commentator for the biggest events of the Olympics. It's the first time any rap artist has played an imperative part in the live broadcast. According to Flavor Flav , Snoop's involvement will be remembered as "a very, very big moment for rap history."
