Gymnast Simone Biles , swimmer Katie Ledecky , sprinters Sha’Carri Richardson and Noah Lyles and a host of other athletes will compete in the 33rd Summer Olympics beginning this Friday, July 26, in Paris, France.

Although some sports will start two days earlier, the 2024 games will officially kick off with a spectacular opening ceremony on the Seine River.

The opening ceremony will air on NBC at 1:30 p.m. ET or 10:30 a.m. PT in the U.S.

Instead of the traditional parade of nations in a stadium, for the first time, each national athletes’ group will travel by boat down the Seine River through Paris, from the Austerlitz bridge to the Trocadéro, across from the Eiffel Tower .
