Man dies in State Route 53 crash involving two vehicles

PLEASANT TOWNSHIP, Ohio (WJW) – One person has died after a crash involving two vehicles in Seneca County Friday morning.

According to a press release from the Ohio State Highway Patrol , the crash happened in Pleasant Township on State Route 53 near County Road 38 around 5:40 a.m.

According to the release, a 2011 Nissan Frontier driven by a 20-year-old was heading south on SR-53 when the car traveled left of center and hit a 2018 Ford Fusion driven by 56-year-old John Lunsford that was heading North.

After the crash, the Frontier came to a stop on the west side of the rod and the fusion stopped on SR-53.

According to the release, Lunsford died as a result of the crash. The 20-year-old driver sustained serious injuries and was taken to Mercy Health St. Vincent Medical Center by air ambulance.

This crash remains under investigation.

Prayers and sympathy for family and friends of the deceased victim, so sorry for your loss. Prayers for healing and a full and complete recovery the unidentified 20 year old man whose name is apparently being withheld for some unknown reason, even though an adult and not a minor, as withholding the name of a minor is completely understandable. General residency information of either individual involved in the accident was not disclosed as well. 🙏
