Halsey is in their Y2K era and giving major Britney Spears vibes in her new latest single "Lucky."

The Manic musician dropped their newest track on Friday (July 26), sampling the pop icon's 2000 song of the same name throughout the chorus, singing how "I'm so lucky, I'm a star/ But I cry, cry, cry in my lonely heart" as the "tears come at night."

Throughout the track, Halsey sings about hearing constant criticism and speculation from the public, from commenting on why she's "losin' so much weight" and being a single mother, before seemingly referencing her private health struggles as she arrives at the bridge and reveals she "shaved my head four times because I wanted to/ And then I did it one more time 'cause I got sick."

"And I thought I changed so much, nobody would notice it, and no one did," Halsey sang. "And I left the doctor's office full of tears/ Became a single mom at my premiere/ And I told everybody I was fine for a whole damn year, and that's the biggest lie of my career."

Halsey also released an accompanying music video directed by Gia Coppola that has all the nostalgic vibes of the early 2000s, even channeling Spears' iconic style with a barely-there crystal-covered body suit. In the video, viewers watch a young girl seemingly idolizing her favorite pop star, emulating her signature style and dance moves, looking for an escape from her own life where she feels alone. However, as the video continues, it turns out the girl and her idol are more similar than she would think, and in fact are one in the same.

The "Bad at Love" singer also referenced their health issues, removing the long hot hot pink wig they wore throughout the video to revealed their shaved head as they are hooked up to an IV getting treatment. In June, Halsey revealed they were "lucky to be alive" after being diagnosed with two secret illnesses over the last two years, sharing that she was diagnosed in 2022 with Lupus as well as a "rare" T-cell lymphoproliferative disorder.

In addition to the new track, Halsey recently shared some insight into their upcoming album, revealing to fans that they thought it "might be the last" they could make amid the scary health journey.
