Saleka Shyamalan and Josh Hartnett star in the new M. Night Shyamalan film Trap , which features Hartnett as a father who has taken his teen daughter to a concert only to realize that not everything is as it seems, and the concert is actually part of a giant sting operation.

In the Trap trailer, M. Night Shyamalan packs the twists in early as things quickly descend into a chaotic game of cat and mouse, and you're left wondering what is real and what is just Shyamalan priming us for his signature plot twist(s).

Early screenings have kicked off, and the first reactions are starting to trickle in – albeit not as many as there'd usually be – as Warner Bros is keeping M. Night Shyamalan's secrets under lock and key.

@PhysicalMedia_ on X (formerly known as Twitter) says that Trap "is an absolute banger" and that "Josh Hartnett killed it".

Reece of @guywithamovie says Trap is Shyamalan's "best since The Village", with Nick Newman of The Film Stage saying, "it's his best-engineered work since... let's say... The Village ."

Screen Rant's Joseph Deckelmeier says, "M. Night Shyamalan gives a masterclass in building suspense", and "the energy of the music went hand in hand with tension".

Finally, we have The Hollywood Handle, who provided the most in-depth reaction, saying Trap is "a fun thriller" and "a return to form for M. Night Shyamalan".

They also had a couple of critiques for the dialogue and the editing, but said " Trap stands high alongside Shyamalan's other works like Split and Knock at the Cabin ."
