Severe Weather Possible Across Parts of North Dakota & Minnesota, Flooding Risk in Texas & Louisiana

NYC Warmth & Low Humidity Till Monday

Good morning everyone. The Northeast is enjoying some fine summer weather as high pressure dominates, and that pesky stationary front is now well to your south. Things are looking very warm to hot, with low humidity until Monday. That's when the juice returns and you'll have a chance of a PM T-storm each day. Until then, enjoy this break because I feel it's going to be a busy 1st and 2nd week of August.

Our trouble spots remain eastern parts of North Carolina and South Carolina, plus Texas and Louisiana with stubborn tropical moisture. In each area, we have the potential for flooding thanks to heavy showers and thunderstorms slowly drifting around. The same goes for the potential for isolated severe weather, especially for marine interests along the Gulf coast of Texas and Louisiana, and coastal sections of North and South Carolina.

Albeit small, the "best" chance to see severe weather will be in the Upper Plains/Midwest in parts of North Dakota and Minnesota later this afternoon and evening. A small area of energy will come down from Canada and bump into the heat and high humidity. This should be enough to spark off some very strong to severe storms for a few hours. While we won't see any widespread severe weather outbreaks, very large hail, frequent lightning, torrential rain, damaging winds, and an isolated tornado, will be possible.

Look for a mostly sunny day, low humidity, light northerly winds, and highs a comfortably warm mid 80's today.

We'll do it again tomorrow with mid to upper 80's and low humidity, then humidity creeps up a bit on Sunday with highs near 90. Expect dry conditions all weekend.

On Monday, the mugginess starts to return with highs in the upper 80's. Look for humid mid to upper 80's into the middle of the workweek, with a chance of a PM storm each day on Tuesday & Wednesday.
