Cold Case investigators from 3 states return to Oklahoma strip pit

CRAIG COUNTY, Okla. (KOAM) — Investigators from multiple agencies come together again at a strip pit in the southeast part of the county seeking to locate evidence regarding cold cases in different jurisdictions.

Since the death of Talfey Reeves, 58, of Pineville, Mo. in late 2023 sources have been talking to authorities more freely.

In fact the 1990 Cold Case murder of Shauna Beth Garber was tied to Reeves by McDonald County, Mo. Sheriff’s investigators . We learned in that investigation as many as six CI’s (Confidential Informants aka. sources) were sharing information since his death.

Information received that Reeves, who ran in criminal rings, traveled across state lines and could have used this strip pit as a ‘ dumping grounds .’

MULTIPLE AGENCIES WITH MULTIPLE CASES

Today brings together multiple agencies across county and state lines working together. Cherokee Nation Marshals have investigators on the scene from Delaware, Craig and Ottawa Counties in Okla., McDonald County, Mo. Sheriff’s Detectives and the cadaver dog team is from Logan County, Ark.

The specific cold cases are not being discussed with the media currently.

WHAT THEY HAVE DISCOVERED TODAY

There are two cadaver dogs on the scene today and they have 3 alerts on the same 3 places as their previous search here.

The process is the dogs are on the front of a boat and they can alert to something in the water. When alerted they get low down close to the water and a buoy is dropped at that GPS coordinate.

But today is different as more divers are going to be in the water following those alert locations.
