The recently-retired Gotham FC defender, 39, appeared on the She Pivots podcast alongside host Emily Sussman, a co-owner of Gotham FC.
“I’m dating a wonderful person right now, who I really, really like. I’m, you know, so grateful that we met,” Krieger said. The former defender did not reveal the identity of her partner.
This comes in the fallout of Krieger's public divorce from fellow USWNT player Ashlyn Harris, 38. The pair were together since 2010, married in 2019, and adopted two children together: Sloane (3) and Ocean (1). In 2023, Harris filed for a divorce without telling Krieger.
“My entire team came over for a dance party the night the news broke. And I will never forget that moment,” Krieger recently told SELF . “I found out at training. I was on the field. I came off the field, in the locker room, and I was obviously devastated.”
By the end of 2023, Harris was publicly dating another celebrity: Sophia Bush, 42, an actress most known for her roll on the show One Tree Hill.
At the time, Krieger was preparing for her sendoff from professional football. The 39-year won the NWSL for the first time in her final season, earning a spot in the NWSL Best XI along the way.
The former defender was capped 108 times for the USWNT over a national team career spanning from 2008-2021. She played a pivotal part of the United States' stonewall defense and helped the Stars and Stripes win the World Cup in both 2015 and 2019.
Harris was Krieger's teammate at Gotham FC. The goalkeeper has been capped 25 times for the USWNT and was alongside her ex-wife on the World Cup-winning teams of both 2015 and 2019. During the podcast, Krieger again went on record and emphasized she was "willing to stay" with Harris.
For now, Krieger is choosing to keep the identity of her new partner private. This serves in contrast to Harris, who's relationship with Bush has caught the public eye.
Bush went on her own podcast and said, "if she's ready to date, she's going on a date with me," revealing she made the first move on the former USWNT player.
Neither Krieger or Harris are part of the current USWNT competing at the Paris Olympics. The team handily defeated Zambia 3-0 in their opening game thanks to a brace from Mallory Swanson.
