Sinead O'Connor's brother furious over 'hideous' waxwork of late sister

Sinead O'Connor's brother labeled the controversial waxwork of his late sister "hideous" . John O'Connor spoke to RTÉ's Liveline and expressed his disgust at the waxwork.

The wax statue was unveiled yesterday in Dublin's National Wax Museum. After its grand unveiling, it drew huge criticism from people online who hit out at the quality of the waxwork.

O'Connor expressed that he was not made aware that the waxwork of his sister was to be unveiled this week. He explained that when he saw it, he was taken by surprise.

"When I saw it online yesterday I was shocked," he said. "I thought it looked something between a mannequin and something out of the Thunderbirds.

"I thought Sinead would have been very fond of looking well, and she certainly did, and if it was supposed to be a representation of her in her early 20s when she did Nothing Compares 2 U, it just looked nothing like her."

"I thought it was hideous," he continued. "A friend of mine said to me last night that he’d seen better in Shaws [department store], in the window."

He added: "I lost my sister and to me that’s important. Since she’s not here to defend herself or to speak for herself I just took it upon myself to contact you about it."

The waxwork was pulled from display after wide public backlash. ""Unfortunately this likeness of Sinead was delivered to the Wax Museum yesterday morning and I didn't have time to review it," museum owner Paddy Dunning told The Irish Sun.

"I knew it wasn't right but I still had to go ahead with the launch because so many press and media were coming," he added.
