Oh là là! Lady Gaga got the party started on Friday, performing Zizi Jeanmaire’s “Mon Truc en Plumes” along Paris’ famed River Seine during the Olympics Opening Ceremony.

In true Gaga fashion, the performance was gloriously over the top, complete with exaggerated choreography and more pink feathers than you could shake a dead Muppet at. (Not that we’d ever do that, of course.) According to Gaga , the pom poms were rented from a French cabaret theater called Le Lido, and she collaborated with Dior on the chic, custom costumes, which included naturally molted feathers.

Flanked by back-up dancers, Gaga cheekily made her way down a grand golden staircase, before being revealed from behind a pair of enormous feathers. Despite briefly sitting at a piano, Gaga was on her feet for most of the five-minute affair, and the audience was definitely on theirs when she was finished.

Watch footage of Gaga’s big number below:

“Oh my gosh!” a breathless Kelly Clarkson exclaimed after Gaga’s show-stopping performance. “I mean, guys, I know this is about Olympians and athletes, and we’re going to see a lot of people thriving under pressure, but they have had no rehearsal. That was incredible. She is incredible.”

Clarkson, former NFL quarterback Peyton Manning and sports commentator Mike Tirico were all on hand to host the festivities for NBC and Peacock’s live broadcast. This year’s Opening Ceremony breaks from Olympic tradition, as they’re typically held within the stadium.

It should be noted that Gaga’s performance was a nod to Jeanmaire’s 1965 appearance on The Ed Sullivan Show , where she performed her famous tune for US audiences. Watch that historic TV moment below for comparison:

“I feel so completely grateful to have been asked to open the [Olympics] this year,” Gaga wrote on Instagram shortly after finishing her performance. “I am also humbled to be asked by the Olympics organizing committee to sing such a special French song — a song to honor the French people and their tremendous history of art, music, and theatre. … Although I am not a French artist, I have always felt a very special connection with French people and singing French musi. —I wanted nothing more than to create a performance that would warm the heart of France, celebrate French art and music, and on such a momentous occasion remind everyone of one of the most magical cities on earth — Paris.”
