Justin Moore delivered a “twangy” country anthem to call out the difference between modern and traditional music in the genre.

The Arkansas-born country star delivered “Put A Boot In It,” offering a “completely different” sound from the verses to the chorus. The unique song, Moore said, was never meant to offend other artists, but was intended as a “tongue-in-cheek” commentary on country music.

“It’s a song that was just an attitude. It’s a Honky Tonk, kind of fun tune that’s basically about keeping Country music… well, you know, twangy, and REAL Country,” Moore said in a statement shared by his record label on Friday (July 26). “It’s definitely tongue-in-cheek and isn’t meant to be offensive by any stretch to any other artist out there who does the other stuff. It really came to life in the studio because we did something completely different than when we originally wrote it. The verse sounds completely different than the chorus when it comes to instruments and speed, which is pretty neat. It’s really nothing like I’ve ever recorded.”

Put A Boot In It ” is Moore’s latest song to release since “Here Comes My Girl” — a cover of Tom Petty ’s 80s song that appears on a star-studded country album in the late rocker’s honor — and “This Is My Dirt.” That will be included on Moore’s new album that’s set to release this fall, per his record label. Moore’s latest releases add to a growing list of career-spanning hits, including “You, Me, And Whiskey” with Priscilla Block , “With A Woman You Love,” “Everybody Get Along” with Riley Green , “We Didn’t Have Much,” “Small Town USA,” “If Heaven Wasn’t So Far Away” and many more.
