ST. LOUIS – The Ascension Charity Classic brings great golfers to town, also recruiting legends of the game to visit.

Jack Nicklaus, Nancy Lopez and Lee Trevino have all been featured. This year, it’s Judy Rankin. She’s not just a member of the World Golf Hall of Fame, but a St. Louis native.

In 1962, she won the Missouri Amateur at the age of 14. She made the cover of Sports Illustrated when she was 16. And after a highly-decorated golf career, Judy Rankin was on TV for decades.

For many, she is a household name, either as a player or broadcaster. She’s a cancer survivor and as a star of the St. Louis Walk of Fame.

Before the great golfers show up for the Ascension Charity Classic in September, Rankin will be here in August. It’s very fitting that her legendary career will be saluted in her hometown.
