Aldi Is Selling a $9 Smocked Dress Similar to an Anthropologie Style Almost 9x the Price

Smocked dresses are so on-trend right now. They’re super comfortable and allow a lot of stretch in the bust area which is great if you don’t want your dresses to constrict too much. Overall, it's a cute, simple style, which is why we're excited that Aldi will be selling one in stores next week. Not only is it convertible (more on that later), but it looks like an Anthropologie style almost nine times the price.

From July 31 to August 6, Aldi will be selling the Serra Ladies Convertible Dress for $8.99 in the Aldi Finds section. It’s a basic smocked dress style: a smocked bust with the skirt gathering at the waist and flowing out from there, hitting above the knees. It’s made from 55% cotton and 45% rayon to create a “soft jersey fabrication.” It comes in three colors: black, blue and a pink print. The black and blue dresses come in sizes M to XL and the pink print dress comes in sizes S, L and XL.

Serra Ladies Convertible Dress , $8.99 at Aldi

As its name suggests, this dress is convertible—meaning that you can switch up how you wear the straps (if at all) to create four different versions. The default way to wear it is with two straps in a normal position on the dress (on the right and left side). Another way is to take the straps, connect them in the center and tie them around your neck to make halter straps. The third way is to remove the straps completely and wear it as a strapless dress. And the final way to wear it is as a skirt (with the straps removed).

The Marisol Smocked Mini Dress , $78 at Anthropologie

This Aldi dress has a similar design to Anthropologie’s The Marisol Smocked Mini Dress , which is currently $78. Anthro’s dress has a fully smocked chest area that has a skirt gathered at the waist that flows out. It has a bit more of a textured look—it’s made with cotton crinkle gauze fabric—and the skirt has a seam above the hem. It’s also slightly convertible because you can remove the thin spaghetti straps to make it strapless.

So if you’re looking for a simple yet cute dress that is less than $10, Aldi’s Serra Ladies Convertible Dress is worth a look. Especially with how closely it resembles such a well-liked brand.
