An influencer is “beefing” with a restaurant — and people are debating what’s the rice thing to do.

Jake Shane shared an exchange he had with Sugarfish, a restaurant by the Sushi Nozawa Group, in which they said that sides of white rice are for kids only.

The 24-year-old influencer and podcast host seemingly has tried with no success to order a side of white rice while dining at Sugarfish, and on Monday, he took to his Instagram stories to share that he was “getting reports” from people that the fine-dining, omakase-only sushi bar does in fact serve sides of rice to “select customers.”

He tagged the restaurant in his story, and Sugarfish responded to clarify their stance, which Shane shared in a full Instagram post .

“Hi Jake, We allow side orders of rice for children (dine-in only) because some are not yet eating sushi, and we think that feeding hungry children is a good thing for everyone’s dining experience,” they wrote in response. “We look forward to seeing you soon!”

Shane responded to the snarky response, “F–k are we beefing,” to which the respond replied, “Never.”

After saying he was “feeling really awkward” about the confrontation, Shane asked if they could give him a side of rice “just once” and even offered to write them one of his infamous poems in exchange.

“I really don’t know how to emphasize how important this is to me,” he admitted.

Sugarfish decided to get in on the joke and used Shane’s poetry skills themselves.

“Roses are red, violets are blue, SUGARFISH rice is only for kids, not for you,” they cleverly responded.

A “speechless” Shane wrote back: “Give me the rice, please hand it over, is there a special spice? Your face is anything but poker.”

“DON’T THINK. JUST EAT. TRUST ME,” they responded, referencing a menu item that included a sashimi course, seven orders of nigiri and two hand rolls.

The exchange sparked debate online, though most of the people in the comments were in support of Shane.

“Bringing hungry children into the argument is insane,” one said.

“Damn they really wanna die on this hill huh,” another wrote.

“This is low-key wild of them,” a user commented.

“No bc it’s literally RICE,” a shocked fan said.

“Not very rice of them,” the Fabletics Instagram chimed in.

“Start bringing a kid to Sugarfish,” one person suggested, while another shared, “I used to lie and say I was 12.”

Another angry customer wrote in all caps, “I have been waiting for the media to cover this for years. Enough is enough. Give me rice and miso soup above the age of 9.”

The Post has reached out to both Shane and Sugarfish for comment.

However, on the Sugarfish FAQ page , they answer the question: “Why can’t I order a bowl of rice when you allow kids to do it?”

In addition to the same response they gave Shane about hungry children, they noted that they make their rice in “very small batches” and make a fresh batch “at least every 30 minutes, discarding any unused rice from the prior batch.”

“If we allow all guests to order extra rice, it will slow our kitchen down and cause other guests to have to wait for their food.”

The debate even made it to the “Today Show,” where Jenna Bush Hager and Donna Farizan debated whether people should be able to order from the kids’ menu.

“He wants rice, you know?” Jenna Bush Hager said. “I feel like we should just give the man some rice. It’s not like he’s asking for the salmon on the kids’ menu for a cheaper price. He just wants rice plus the sushi.”
